Ultamation was formed in 2007 by Oliver Hall, and has quickly become one of the leading custom integration companies in the UK.  Based at the prestigious Liverpool Science Park, in the North West of England, we deliver projects all across the UK and beyond.

We're not ashamed of the fact we're a small, lean, company and take pride in the fact that we don't feel the need to hide behind any smoke and mirrors - we can demonstrate our work, have many clients who are happy to give references, and we'd be delighted for you to visit us at our offices and meet the team.  If you're embarking on a custom integration, lighting control, home cinema or distributed audio/video project, you'll be making what could be a significant financial investment, so you'll want to be sure you've got the right people delivering the system so you can have the confidence that you'll be enjoying the benefits offered by an "intelligent home" (or boardroom, spa, lecture theatre...) for many years to come.

A graduate in Computer Science from Exeter University (being placed 2nd in the year, which upset the anoraks no end), I returned to my home town of Liverpool to work for computer games legends Psygnosis (the publishers of classics such as Lemmings, Shadow of the Beast, Wipeout), shortly before they were purchased by Sony.  As Sony Computer Entertainment - the home of PlayStation - grew to become the most popular console format holder on the planet, I grew to become Director of Management Information Systems and then, following a move down to London, Head of Consumer Network Applications.  After 15 years, I returned home to start a family and a new business, and Ultamation was born (shortly followed by Fred & Bob, our two boys).

I quickly achieved the highest level of programming accreditation offered by Crestron (currently a "Diamond Master") with a notable commendations from Crestron's head of technical training, and now we enjoy a very strong relationship with Crestron both in Europe and the US.

As Oliver’s wife, I wanted to be involved in Ultamation - despite it not being the industry sector I have previously focused on – to help us develop a sound business.  I graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1994 with a Hospitality Business Management degree.  From there I spent the next 11 years working for Whitbread in hotels (Marriott and Premier Inn) and their Head Office gaining experience in meetings & conferences, marketing and mainly project management.  Punch Taverns was the next port of call where I concentrated on project management.  The experiences I have gained have stood me in good stead for Ultamation – allowing me to contribute to the business from marketing to accounts (yes it’s me who chases the money!).

I graduated from Birmingham City University with a degree in Architecture. After University I went on to work for a small architecture firm, based in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. I took lead on a project to convert 3 grade 2 listed buildings into stylish city apartments, from concept - through design and onto construction.

After leaving Birmingham, I took a position with Ultamation as a graphic designer, responsible for user interface designs and built the website you are now viewing.  Through the years my role has changed to include a project management role and have recently passed the Prince 2 course.

I have a passion to learn and can often be found reading a up on a random topic from economics to physics.

As an undergraduate I studied Computer Science with a Year in Industry and graduated with a 1st in 2021. I spent my year in industry working for a pharmacy automation company based near Warrington. I continued my passion for the subject with a master’s in Advanced Computer Science, which I completed in September 2022. Both of these were at the University of Liverpool. During my master’s I secured a position as a Control Systems Software Developer at Ultamation. I began working in this role full-time following my degree.  Having spent five years studying here, I now call Liverpool home. I’m excited to be involved in the interesting and challenging projects that Ultamation have, and to keep expanding my programmer skills.

I was born and raised in Liverpool, which is where I studied Computer Science at the University of Liverpool, graduating with a 1st in 2023. Being quite attached to the region, I looked to stay here as I began my career in Software. Shortly after graduating I discovered Ultamation through a graduate scheme ran by the University of Liverpool, and accepted a position of Control Systems Software Engineer. I look forward to developing as a software engineer here through the projects that we will be working on.
