With intelligent heating control, an average domestic property can save up to 25-30% on heating costs. And remember, that's helping the environment as well as your pocket. |

| Lighting Control |
Using basic controls, such as a wall switch or remote control, you can call up one of a number of lighting and shade scenes (yes, you can control the curtains too) to get the perfect mood for whatever you’re watching – normal lighting for the big match with the boys or the cliff hanging finish to the X-factor with the girls (apologies for the blatant stereotypes!), low light for the latest Hollywood offering or pitch black for some classic horror. Now – how about extending the system to give you complete lighting control in the living, dining or bed rooms? Setting the perfect mood will be one less thing to think about when you’re throwing your next dinner party. It’s late at night and you get the munchies – with one button press as you leave your bedroom, the route to the kitchen is illuminated at low light level for you – no need to hurt your eyes with bright lights or wake up the rest of the house. If that’s not enough, add a control system and your lights will work to give the impression you’re at home even when you’re away. Like 100 time-clocks on steroids, your system can even learn your habits and replay them (with a random element thrown in for good measure) to really convince any would-be-burglars that your home really isn’t worth the effort. Of course, these are just a few of the convenient and security conscious benefits offered through lighting in the intelligent home, and we haven’t even considered the energy and environmental savings that can be realised through dimming lights. Then there’s exterior lighting, boardroom solutions, multi-dwelling units, retail... If you want to explore the possibilities, we’d be delighted to have the opportunity to discuss your requirements. Ultamation are pleased to announce the release of a new Heatmiser module supporting the V3 protocol. The latest version of the Heatmiser products (also sold under other brands, such as Wavin) communicate using a more complex protocol which incorporates CRC error correction. Communicating directly with the thermostats over RS485, the initial release of the module supports power control, run-mode (normal or frost protect) and set-point control, all with true feedback, including current room temp and heating demand status.
